Game of Thrones Season 3 will be available on Netflix, a source close to the company told TechRadaru.
The Netflix-owned streaming service has been one of the most-discussed and most-hyped of the HBO drama series, and its first season, Game of Banners, was met with critical acclaim, but the series has not seen a new season since its debut.
That being said, a deal has been announced to bring the second season to Netflix on Jan. 23.
The new season will consist of eight episodes, which Netflix says will be the longest to date.
Season 3 is expected to be a two-hour long series, with each episode lasting three and a half hours.
“Game of BGs’ second season will be an exciting, gripping and epic adventure filled with a deep, compelling and rich storyline,” the Netflix rep said in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to bring this extraordinary saga to Netflix and are honored to have the opportunity to expand our partnership with HBO.”
The new show will be set during the second half of the first season of the show, which ended with the Battle of the Bastards.
“The Game of Gods” is set in the fictional land of Essos, where the gods of war are pitted against one another for supremacy in the world.
Fans have speculated that the second episode could feature a cameo from another member of the series, Tyrion Lannister, who appeared in the first episode.
In addition to the new season, the Netflix-hosted show also will be receiving an eight-episode spinoff, “The Dragon & The Rose.”
The spinoff will take place in Westeros after the series finale, and it will also feature characters from the second and third seasons.
The first season featured characters from both the books and the TV series.
The spinoffs will also include a “Star Wars”-themed episode, the first one of which will air in 2019.
