The group, known for their catchy, energetic and diverse music, was formed by members of the WoodNites, an all-female rock band from the city of Philadelphia, in 1993.

During that time, the group has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide.
Smith, who is now 39, said she was very lucky to be a part of the group.
“We were born with a special gift, and that gift was to be able to sing and dance with a crowd,” she said.
“It was really magical to be on stage and see them all coming together.
We were very lucky and privileged to have been there.”
The Woodnis have been performing on stage since 1999.
In the years since, they have toured and released seven albums.
The band’s newest record, “The Woodnies Are Alive,” is scheduled for release on Dec. 18.
The group performed for a large crowd at the Wood nite Amphitheater in Montclair, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 18, 2017.
The concert was held on the first day of the festival, which was held in the beautiful, rolling Monterey Mountains, where the band had performed a few years earlier.
During the concert, the Woodns were joined by their fellow musicians, as well as their manager, Matt Denson.
“The woodnies are alive!” the Woodnis tweeted.
The music, which is performed live with instruments, is a mix of folk, rock, jazz and country, according to the band.
After performing the song, the band returned to the stage to perform a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
“It’s kind of a classic rock ballad that I’ve been singing for a long time, and I love it,” Woodnoes guitarist, Sarah Lee, said.
When asked about what she would say to a friend or loved one who’s been a fan of the band for years, Smith replied, “You need to see them live.
It’s the best.”
